The 5th collection of the project "Who’s That Nude In The Living Room?"

Idan Wizen invite us to think about the multiple metaphors representing the shadow of the model, societal indifference or even the archetype of the idealized body.

Few words about this collecton

"The mannequin represents the perfect body without apparent imperfection. It can also represents societal judgment, the gaze of others."

The “Neurosis” collection is part of the ongoing art project “Who’s That Nude In The Living Room?” initiated by Franco-Israeli artist and photographer Idan Wizen. Staying true to the core principles of the project, “Neurosis” features models who have never posed before, either clothed or nude. Open to everyone over the age of 18, the collection does not involve casting, ensuring a diverse and authentic representation of humanity in its rawest form.

Each photo session in the “Neurosis” collection retains only one image per model, without any retouching, providing an honest and natural portrayal of each individual. These authentic photographs are intended to become large-format works of art, up to 80 x 120 cm, exhibited in galleries and cherished in private collections. They highlight universal beauty beyond contemporary aesthetic and socio-cultural standards.

What sets the “Neurosis” series apart is its purple background, creating a striking contrast between the energy released by the model and this color, traditionally associated with death or the clergy. This choice of color symbolizes an outlet for societal constraints and inhibitions, reminiscent of the work done during the “Perseverance” series.

Through “Neurosis,” Idan Wizen continues to explore and celebrate human diversity, capturing moments of vulnerability and strength in their purest form. This collection invites us to reflect deeply on our perceptions of nudity and authenticity, redefining norms and offering a bold and provocative artistic vision.

Few words about this collection

"The most difficult to act, the rest is merely tenacity." - Amelia Earhart

The “Obstination” collection is the fourth series of the artistic project “Who’s That Nude in the Living Room?” created by Franco-Israeli artist and photographer Idan Wizen. True to the innovative spirit of this project, “Obstination” stands out with its unique and immersive approach, aiming to create a three-dimensional setting where models interact with a central element: a Louis XVI chair.

Each photograph in this collection features a model posed on this iconic chair, symbolizing perseverance and determination. The choice of the Louis XVI chair, with its classical design and timeless elegance, offers a striking contrast to the nudity of the models, enhancing the visual and emotional power of each image.

“Obstination” consists of 100 photographs, each capturing the essence and unique personality of the model. By using the chair as a focal point, Idan Wizen creates a particular dynamic and interaction, giving the impression that each image is a scene from a larger, more complex narrative.

This collection not only presents nudity from an artistic perspective but also explores themes of resilience, inner strength, and human determination. The models, in their diversity and vulnerability, bring a depth and authenticity that resonate deeply with the viewer.

By exploring “Obstination,” you are invited to delve into a world where art and history converge, where each photograph is an invitation to reflect and admire the complexity and beauty of the human condition.

Few words about this collecton

"The mannequin represents the perfect body without apparent imperfection. It can also represents societal judgment, the gaze of others."

The “Arles” collection is the third series of the artistic project “Who’s That Nude in the Living Room?” created by Franco-Israeli artist and photographer Idan Wizen. Produced during the prestigious European Festival of Nude Photography in Arles, this collection stands out for its spontaneous and immersive approach, capturing the essence of the event and the energy of its participants.
Photographed against a Van Gogh yellow background, in homage to the famous painter who left such a mark on the city of Arles, this collection evokes the warmth and vitality of his works. This color choice creates a striking contrast with the nudity of the models, enhancing the visual and emotional power of each photograph.
One of the most unique aspects of the “Arles” collection lies in its spontaneous creation. Visitors to the exhibition were invited, at the end of their visit, to participate in a photo session. This direct and immediate interaction allowed for the creation of a series of authentic and vibrant photographs, reflecting the diversity and richness of the participants.
The day after their photo session, the prints were presented in a new exhibition, allowing the visitors from the previous day to discover the created works and see their own image transformed into art. This dynamic and participatory approach not only captured intimate and personal moments but also created a strong connection between the artist, the participants, and the audience.
The “Arles” collection comprises 25 photographs, each capturing a unique and spontaneous moment. Through these images, Idan Wizen celebrates spontaneity, creativity, and human interaction, offering a unique perspective on the beauty and diversity of the human condition. These works, set against a vibrant yellow background reminiscent of Van Gogh, invite viewers to explore and appreciate the complexity and richness of the human experience.

The 2nd collection of the project "Who’s That Nude In The Living Room?"

Idan Wizen invite us to think about the multiple metaphors representing the shadow of the model, societal indifference or even the archetype of the idealized body.

Few words about this collecton

The “Perseverance” collection is the second series of the artistic project “Who’s That Nude in the Living Room?” created by Franco-Israeli artist and photographer Idan Wizen. This collection stands out for its boldness and irony, using a bright red background to evoke and subvert the codes of the adult industry.

The choice of red, a color often associated with passion and provocation, creates a striking contrast with the nudity of the models. By adopting this aesthetic, Idan Wizen aims not only to capture attention but also to question and deconstruct the stereotypes associated with nudity and eroticism.

With “Perseverance,” each photograph becomes a subtle satire, highlighting the authentic beauty and diversity of human bodies, far from the clichés and superficial expectations of the adult industry. The models, in their vulnerability and strength, embody a resistance to societal norms and judgments.

The creation of this collection required true perseverance from both the models and the artist. Each shot is the result of a sincere collaboration, where mutual respect and trust allowed for the capture of moments of truth and authenticity.

“Perseverance” invites the viewer to rethink their perception of nudity and eroticism, to see beyond appearances and to appreciate the richness and complexity of the human experience. This collection, through its bold and satirical approach, offers a profound and necessary reflection on societal expectations and the true beauty of humanity.

Genèse

Genèse

The first collection of the project "Who’s That Nude In The Living Room?"

Idan Wizen talks about the place of aesthetics and modesty in society

Few words about this collection

"Beauty could be in other types of bodies: in men, in women, in older people, on curves, on lots of different things."

From the inception of the “Who’s That Nude in the Living Room?” project in 2009, Idan Wizen embarked on a profound exploration of aesthetics in our society. At that time, beauty was still largely dictated by retouched and idealized images of models in magazines. However, Wizen quickly discovered that true beauty lies in the diversity of bodies: men, women, the elderly, curvaceous figures, and many other forms.

The artist also delved into the concept of modesty. He observed a society oscillating between two extremes: an omnipresence of unsolicited pornography and a resurgence of puritanism, where the body was demonized and its display considered inappropriate.

In his reflection, Wizen sought to understand what truly attracts us to an individual when stripped of all socio-cultural contexts—no name, no age, no profession. What is it that fascinates us about a person and makes us want to have them in our space, in large format, to gaze at, admire, and most importantly, tell their story?

“Genesis” is the first collection of the “Who’s That Nude in the Living Room?” project, an ambitious artistic endeavor aiming to create the largest photographic series ever made, representing humanity in its most natural state—naked and diverse. This concept of photographic art seeks to gather thousands of volunteer models of all ages and social categories to form an immense gallery of portraits of contemporary men and women. These photographs, in their multitude, originality, dynamism, and naturalness, bear witness to universal human beauty, far beyond the restrictive socio-cultural and aesthetic criteria of our time.

Genèse: The first series of the project

Genèse is a collection of the project Who’s That Nude In The Living Room?”, a collection that respects the same principles as the others of the project. Namely, models who have never posed before (neither in photos, nor naked), they are not casted (everyone can come from the age of 18), and who come for a photo session, where we will keep only one photograph of each individual. There is no retouching, these are authentic photographs of each individual, they are meant to be made into works of art up to very large formats which are 80 x 120 cm, and to be exhibited, in exhibitions, as well as in private homes.

The Genèse series is the first series of the project. The name given to the collection evokes the birth of the idea and of the project. Started in 2009, it includes a hundred photographs, fifty of which are of women. It is characterized by its black background and its black & white shooting tinged with a deep red. A book bringing together all the photographs was published in 2010.
