Virtual Street Art
Idan Wizen's "Virtual Street Art" collection daringly fuses cityscapes with the essence of human form. In this groundbreaking series, Wizen overlays nude figures from his "Purity" series of the "Un Anonyme Nu Dans Le Salon" project onto city architectural photographs, transforming these bodies into the appearance of street art on building exteriors.
These artworks, which juxtapose the harsh lines of city architecture with the softness of human skin, provoke thoughtful examination of how nudity is perceived in public arenas. They draw a sharp distinction between the commonplace depictions of violence and the often-taboo representation of the nude human body, illuminating societal values and reactions to different kinds of imagery.
"Virtual Street Art" goes beyond celebrating the human form—it critically examines cultural and social norms surrounding what is deemed acceptable in public discourse. By integrating nudity into the urban landscape, Wizen confronts societal taboos and stimulates essential discussions about the limits of artistic freedom and censorship in public and artistic spaces.
Dive into this collection, where each piece challenges viewers to reconsider societal norms and personal comfort levels with nudity, starkly juxtaposed with familiar symbols of aggression and dispute.
Idan Wizen
Idan Wizen, a Franco-Israeli artist and photographer, has made a significant mark in the photography domain, notably with his emblematic project "An Anonymous Nude in the Living Room." His work has been highlighted in renowned cities such as Paris, New York, Miami, and Osaka. In 2013, his unique talent for capturing male nudity was honored with the award for the best male nude photograph at the International PhotoShootAwards, marking the start of over sixty accolades for his project.
Born on October 26, 1984, in Tel-Aviv, Idan began his studies at the University Paris II Panthéon-Assas in 2002, initially focusing on economics and management. However, he quickly discovered that his true interests lay in the fields of art, photography, and advertising, prompting him to redirect his career towards these passions.
After reassessing his ambitions, Idan enrolled in Sup de Pub, where he earned a Master's in Art Direction in 2007. Continuing on this path, he also secured a Master's degree from the University of the Arts London in 2008. Upon returning to Paris, after a brief stint as a marketing manager in the cosmetics sector, Idan founded Studio Idan, an agency specializing in print, web, and photography.
Alongside running his agency, Idan ventured into photography. On April 18, 2009, he launched the project "An Anonymous Nude in the Living Room," which quickly stood out for its mastery of lighting, the intrinsic beauty of each shot, and his ability to swiftly establish trust with his models. To date, the project has attracted over 2400 participants.
In 2023, Idan Wizen took a significant step forward in his career by opening the Art Gallery of Studio Idan, a space dedicated to the exhibition and sale of art prints. This venue provides a new platform for showcasing his works, as well as those of other artists who share his vision.
